Community Outreach

One of the goals of Sprout is to help strengthen communities by creating spaces where neighbors can come together to get fresh air, get their hands a little dirty and maybe even take away some fresh veggies to enjoy with their families.  Without fail, every time we work in the garden people stop and ask questions about what we are doing, what is growing and many ask how they can get involved.  We often share what we harvest that day with passers by and show some of our youngest visitors how to pick fresh vegetables right from the soil.

On our last big build day on April 21st.  Rob, one of the leaders of Williamsburg Church, stopped by and asked about the project.  He invited me (Heather) to give a short talk to the congregation at the Church which I happily accepted.  I am so grateful that people are open to hearing about the project and want to help support it.  It sounds like we will be able to schedule some regular volunteers from the Church as well as potentially plan a 'field trip' for a group of pre-schoolers to come visit the garden.  This is what it is all about!

Again I want to say thank you to Rob and everyone at Williamsburg Church for welcoming me into their worship space and letting me tell them a bit about Sprout.  Katie and I are so passionate about this project, it is always a joy to be able to share it with others.
