Seedlings at Gaynor Campus Garden

It was an overcast day for our first Garden Club meeting after spring break.  The meeting started somberly; all of our seedlings died over the break!  Unfortunately the care that was arranged for them was not followed through with.  Such is the reality for a school gardener.   Luckily the students immediately planted more seeds when they made the disappointing discovery.

Today we planted lettuce, greens and zinnias outside.  The radishes, arugula and carrots are beginning to sprout; an encouraging sign!  We also schlepped all the materials into the newly built toolshed (thank you Urban Workshop).  It slipped our collective mind to take photos of today's progress... Guess we were too busy gardening!

This Saturday we will build the rest of the raised beds, fill them with soil, paint a mural and some informational signs, and do some planting.  We can use additional volunteers, please let us know if you're interested!
