It is a beautiful day for gardening, and the Green School students turned out for garden club this afternoon. We harvested lettuce to take home and basil for the pizza Ms. Baka brought. We scheduled our student interns for the rest of June and July, so that the garden will be visited once per day for watering and general maintenance. We also discussed our end of school year Garden Harvest Party, which is planned for June 27. At the party we'd like to paint an informative mural on the wall behind the soil restoration bed, construct and plant in the sub-irrigated planter, and sign up new garden members. We also discussed bringing basil starts to nearby restaurants as a form of community outreach, another great suggestion from Nathan.
Please enjoy the photos from this afternoon which display our progress:

We're looking forward to the last few weeks of school and getting more students into the garden as it becomes increasingly productive. Thanks to all the students (and Ms. Baka) for their hard work this afternoon.
